Academy Rules & Code of Conduct

To ensure the safety, hygiene, and positive spirit of our academy, we kindly ask all members and guests to follow the guidelines below. These rules are in place to help everyone enjoy a respectful, safe, and productive training environment.

General Etiquette

  • Please aim to arrive early. If you are late, kindly let your instructor know before stepping onto the mat. Please wipe and clean your feet before stepping on the mats.

  • Attendance without a valid membership is not permitted.

  • Show respect to all training partners, instructors, and teammates at all times.

  • Refrain from rude or offensive language.

  • Discrimination, bullying, or any form of aggression will not be tolerated. Membership may be revoked in such cases.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

  • Do not train if you are feeling unwell or have a contagious condition, including skin infections.

  • Always wear a clean gi or rashguard to class. No zippers or buckles on training gear.

  • Fingernails and toenails must be kept short and clean.

  • Use the provided antibacterial wipes before stepping onto the mat.

  • No makeup and body lotion during training, as it may stain uniforms.

  • All cuts and abrasions must be properly covered before class. Inform the instructor immediately if you bleed on the mat and clean the area with the provided wipes.

On the Mat

  • Shake hands or bump fists before and after sparring.

  • Apply submissions carefully and release immediately if your partner taps.

  • Only practice what the instructor is currently teaching unless given instruction otherwise.

  • Remain quiet and attentive while the instructor is speaking.

  • If you are not actively sparring, please sit on the bench or off the edge of the matted area to make space for others.

  • Notify the instructor of any injuries and complete an incident report if needed.

  • No food is allowed in the dojo. Please keep water bottles off the mat.

Facilities & Personal Conduct

  • Footwear must be left on the shoe rack at the entrance.

  • Please wear sandals or footwear in the restroom area—never go barefoot.

  • Wash your hands after using the bathroom.

  • Use changing rooms for getting dressed—changing in open areas is not permitted.

  • Jewellery and piercings must be removed before training.

  • Participants must maintain good personal hygiene and avoid strong body odours.

  • Parents: Please ensure your child has used the restroom before class begins.

Recording & Respect

  • Mobile phone use is not permitted on the mat unless granted prior permission.

  • Respect the beliefs, backgrounds, and values of others.

  • If a participant shows signs of losing control or aggressive behaviour, inform the instructor, and they may be asked to leave the mat.
