FAQ

  • DO YOU HAVE CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR BEGINNERS?

Yes, we have special classes for those who have never trained before. Anyway, all of our instructors can suggest modifications if you are injured or not able to do the programmed exercise. Rather than cause any disruption mid-session, we ask that you arrive 5 minutes before your session is due to start and chat to the instructor. Please mention to them if you have any concerns regarding your fitness levels, capability, injuries – so they can keep an eye out for you and adapt your program where necessary.

  • CAN I JOIN THE 5 WEEKS PROGRAM?

Absolutely, In this program, you will learn the core techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun, safe, and cooperative environment. You can start the program at any time and participate in any class without previous experience and, since safety is our number one concern, there is no competitive sparring in this program. This class follows a strict curriculum that is vital to the progression of the Jiu-Jitsu journey.

  • WHAT AM I GOING TO LEARN ON MY FIRS CLASS?

You will learn the essential movements and concepts needed to participate in group classes quickly and effectively in private or semi-private sessions. In addition, you gain self-confidence, raise your self-esteem and improve your focus and your concentration. And yet it leaves the stress and all the headache of work on the outside of the mat as you seek to overcome your own limits. And all this, in an environment where you find people with characteristics very similar to yours, with similar goals. An excellent opportunity to increase your circle of friendships.

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST SESSION?

If you booked a Gi session and you don’t own any JiuJitsu apparel, we will sort that for you. Our team will lend a JiuJitsu Gi to your first classes at no cost. If you are attending our Grappling classes and you don’t own a NoGi kit, please wear a t-shirt and shorts (without zippers) to your first session.

Nope. Absolute beginners are welcome. We break everything down clearly and provide extra support for new students.

    What should I wear?

A clean gi (uniform) is preferred – if you don’t have one, we can loan you one for your first few classes.

Rash guard and leggings or shorts underneath are recommended for hygiene and comfort.

No jewellery, makeup, or strong scents.

What makes this class different from co-ed Jiu Jitsu?

All-female environment fosters comfort, confidence, and support.

Focused on self-defence, empowerment, and safe technique.

No pressure to “prove” yourself or keep up with larger, stronger partners.

Led by experienced female instructors or coaches trained in women-centred BJJ.

    Will we do live sparring?

Yes — but only when you're ready, and always with consent. Sparring is supervised and often starts with positional drills before progressing to full rolling.

    Can I bring my daughter/sister/niece?

Yes! Ages 15+ can join adult classes with a parent/guardian's approval.
We also offer separate girls-only youth classes (ages 7–12) — ask for details.

    Do you cover self-defense?

Absolutely. Many core BJJ techniques start with real-world situations in mind — escapes, takedowns, and survival from the ground up. We also periodically offer women’s self-defence seminars.

    Is this LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes. We are an inclusive space for all women, including trans and non-binary individuals who feel more comfortable in this environment. Respect and safety are top priorities.

Trim nails, tie back hair, bring water.

    Respect your training partners.

Show up consistently. BJJ is tough—but worth it.
